Our Story
Long-time friends AL + Rae launched Más Marketing + Co., a multicultural marketing and fundraising agency, by blending the best of both the business and nonprofit worlds, prioritizing equity and access, from San Francisco to Grand Rapids—and beyond.
Rae and AL met in 2016 while working at the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, at the time Rae was the Director of Youth and Parent Services, overseeing nationally recognized youth leadership programming and college access. AL was finishing her degree in Public Relations and Spanish at Grand Valley State University while also serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member assisting the college access and readiness programming at the Hispanic Center for first-generation college students.
Over the years they kept in contact supporting each other professionally which led to a deepening friendship. Alyson’s career pivoted from the public sector to the private sector, working at notable public relations agencies, leading cross-functional teams and executing impactful multicultural marketing and communications campaigns. Rae’s career deepened in the philanthropic and nonprofit communications space, expanding their portfolio from hyperlocal to state-wide nonprofits, paving the way for more inclusive and strategic fundraising.
Más emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the challenges faced by businesses owned by people of color. The closures of countless culturally rich and historic businesses exposed a gap in the digital expertise needed to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape. These losses were more than financial—they were losses of community, identity, and history.
Más became a way to fight for a more inclusive economy, where every voice is heard, and every dream has a chance to thrive. Alyson Ramirez launched MásPR in 2021 to provide accessible communications and public relations services to local businesses and nonprofits in Detroit and Grand Rapids.
Through the years—and a few presidential shifts, a cross-country move, and countless other monumental moments—Más grew in inclusivity and the range of services offered. The transition from MásPR to Más Marketing + Co. was intentional — to amplify the voices of those excluded from traditional opportunities.
Today, Más Marketing + Co. offers a full suite of digital marketing services, aimed at supporting small businesses and nonprofits owned/led by Black, Brown, Queer, and Women community members. This growth was fueled by the addition of Rae Lynn Humphreys, a bilingual copywriter and fundraising development maven with over a sixteen years of communications experience and a Master’s degree in the field. Their experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership expanded Más’ offerings to include grant writing, fundraising strategy + coaching, and board training.
